Roborock
roborock S4 Max Robot Vacuum with Lidar Navigation, 2000Pa Strong Suction, Multi-Level Mapping, No-go Zones, Ideal for Carpets and Pets Robotic Vacuum
Best for
The S4 Max fits homes with pets and a mix of hard floors and low-to-medium pile carpet, where scheduled, methodical cleaning matters most, but skip it if you need mopping, a self-emptying bin, or have high-pile carpets.
What buyers say
Most owners praise this vacuum for its precise LiDAR mapping, quiet operation, and methodical cleaning that handles pet hair and mixed floors well. The real trade-off is a small dust bin that fills quickly, especially in homes with pets, so you’ll be emptying it often.
Loved by buyers
- •LiDAR navigation maps your home accurately and cleans in efficient rows, reaching under furniture and along edges without the chaotic bumping of older bots.
- •Quiet enough to run while working or around noise-sensitive pets, with a low whir rather than the scream of a typical upright.
- •Strong suction automatically boosts on carpet and pulls up fine dust, debris, and pet hair from hard floors, tile, and low-pile rugs.
Buyer concerns
- •Dust bin is undersized and fills up quickly, often needing a mid-clean empty in pet-heavy homes, and there’s no self-emptying base option.
- •You must enable map saving in the app’s beta settings before the first run; missing that step means you lose your map and any custom zones.
- •It’s vulnerable to cords and small objects left on the floor, so you need to tidy up before each session to avoid tangles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi?+
Yes, the S4 Max only works with 2.4 GHz networks. If your router combines bands, you may need to separate them or use a 2.4 GHz guest network during setup.
How loud is it during cleaning?+
On balanced mode, it’s roughly half as loud as a standard upright vacuum. Turbo mode is noisier but still a low whir that many find less jarring than a traditional vac.
Can it map and switch between multiple floors?+
Yes, it saves up to four separate floor maps with room labels and no-go zones. Just move the robot to the new floor and start a cleaning cycle; it recognizes where it is after a short orientation.
How long does the battery last, and will it finish a large home?+
Rated up to 180 minutes of runtime, covering about 3,230 square feet. In real homes, it cleaned 1,400 square feet on turbo in 86 minutes on a single charge. If it runs low, it recharges and resumes automatically.
