Shark
Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV Bagless Vacuum with DuoClean Detect, LA742 | DuoClean Detect, Direction, Dirt, Edge and Floor Sensors, Odor Neutralizer, HEPA Seal, Crevice and Upholstery Tools
Best for
Best for pet owners with mixed flooring who want hands-off automatic cleaning; skip if you have many lightweight rugs or need a lightweight, easy-push vacuum.
What buyers say
Owners consistently praise its powerful, deep cleaning on carpets and edges, with smart sensors that actually improve daily vacuuming. The trade-off is that it's heavier to push than expected and has a short cord, making whole-home cleaning more effortful.
Loved by buyers
- •Edge Detect actually cleans right up to baseboards, a rare real-world strength.
- •Remarkably quiet operation; multiple owners note their pets stopped running away.
- •Automatically adjusts suction and brushroll speed between carpets and hard floors without any manual changes.
Buyer concerns
- •Heavier than expected and can be hard to push, especially on thick carpet, causing wrist strain for some.
- •Power cord is short, forcing you to switch outlets room to room.
- •Strong suction sometimes grabs lightweight throw rugs and triggers a safety shut-off.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it weigh?+
About 13 pounds. Some owners, especially those with wrist issues, find it heavy and hard to push on thick carpet.
Does it have a HEPA filter?+
Yes, it includes a sealed HEPA system to trap allergens, making it a good pick for allergy sufferers.
How long is the power cord?+
Relatively short. Expect to change outlets when moving between rooms, which can be inconvenient in larger spaces.
What accessories are included?+
It comes with a crevice tool and an upholstery tool. A few owners found them less durable than older Shark accessories and needed an adapter to fit previous tools.
Can it handle throw rugs?+
It can, but lightweight or small rugs may get sucked up and cause the brushroll to stop. Securing them or avoiding very thin rugs helps.
