DEWALT
DEWALT STEALTHSONIC 5 Gallon Shop Vacuum Wet and Dry, 4 Peak HP, DXV05S-QT
Best for
Ideal for homeowners and hobbyists who need a quiet, powerful vacuum for garage, workshop, and car interiors; skip it if you rely on a blower function or plan to drag it daily across job sites with the stock hose.
What buyers say
This Dewalt shop vacuum runs so quietly you can skip ear protection, and its suction handles fine dust, wood chips, and wet spills alike. However, the included hose feels thin and may kink under daily use, and it lacks a blower port for clearing leaves or dust from corners.
Loved by buyers
- •Extremely quiet operation means no ear protection needed, even in enclosed spaces, and it won't disturb others.
- •Powerful suction pulls fine dust, drywall chunks, and pet hair without hesitation.
- •Smooth-rolling casters and a stable stainless steel canister make it easy to drag around without tipping.
Buyer concerns
- •The included black hose feels thin and can kink, so heavy-duty users may want a more durable aftermarket hose.
- •There is no blower port, so you cannot use it to clear leaves or dust from hard-to-reach spots.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the cord and hose together?+
The 10-foot cord plus a 7-foot hose and two wands gives roughly 17 feet of cleaning reach, so you can cover most of a two-car garage without changing outlets.
Can I use it to pick up water?+
Yes, it comes with a foam filter for wet cleanup. It handles spills and light flooding well, though some owners keep it for dry use to preserve the steel drum.
Does it handle pet hair or does it get clogged?+
It picks up pet hair effectively from hard surfaces and car seats. On fabric, you may need to loosen embedded fur with a brush before vacuuming.
How do I clean or replace the filter?+
The cartridge filter is washable. Just rinse it under a tap, let it dry, and reuse. Most users go months between cleanings with typical home use.
Is it really quiet enough to use indoors while others sleep?+
Owners report it's quiet enough to hold a conversation next to it, and it won't wake up a sleeping household or scare nervous pets.
