DEWALT
DEWALT Stealthsonic 12 Gallon 5.5 HP Shop Vacuum Wet and Dry, DXV12P-QTE
Best for
This is our pick for garage, workshop, and basement cleanup (sawdust, wet spills, tool dust) when quieter running matters and you have floor space for a 12-gallon tank; skip it for a small apartment or if you need a compact everyday vac with a longer reliability record.
What buyers say
This 12-gallon shop vac pulls wet and dry messes and stays quieter than the loud workshop vacs sitting next to it.
Loved by buyers
- •It runs quiet enough to skip hearing protection in a workshop, quieter than a Rigid or Shop-Vac on a phone sound meter, which is the practical reason to pick this over a cheaper loud shop vac.
- •The 12-gallon tank is a genuine middle size: enough capacity for garage and basement jobs without the storage hit of a 16-gallon.
Buyer concerns
- •The 12-gallon body runs large for a closet or small home, so it is the wrong pick if you lack a dedicated garage or workshop corner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can it handle standing water and wet messes?+
Yes. Swap on the foam filter and empty liquid through the valve at the bottom of the tank. Owners used it on a flooded dehumidifier and to drain a water heater.
How far can I clean before I have to move the tank?+
You get a 20-foot cord plus a 7-foot hose, about 11 feet of hose-plus-wands, and over 27 feet of total reach. That cuts how often you drag the canister.
Does it come with bags and filters for wet and dry pickup?+
Yes. The box includes a cartridge filter, a foam filter for liquids, and six disposable dust bags. Switch to the foam filter before you pick up water.
Does it have a blower port?+
No. It vents exhaust only, so you cannot reverse it to blow out debris the way some shop vacs do.
